5 Secrets to Improve Your Presentations (VOL018)

If you’re in business, you will either be the victim of a bad PowerPoint presentation or possibly be the perpetrator who exposes others. I know one of my worst experiences was going to see a computer company who presented a show that had different colors of text and backgrounds on every slide. Not only was it distracting from what they were trying to present, but it was tiring just to watch. I happened to see the same presentation done at a later date via a webinar where, because of the colors and high resolution, images looked horrible and cheapened the message they were attempting to present.

Stop That Train I Wanna Get Off! (VOL011)

Often my wife, co-workers, and friends say that I have a really strange way of thinking and it is extremely difficult to follow the logic on the train wreck of thoughts running through my head. In fact, the most common expression I hear from people tends to be, “How did you get that when we started out with this?” To which I reply, “Do you really want to know how I started at A, then went to Z, then back to Y, on to 3 through 12, and finish on B and C?” Inevitably, after they ask the first time, they usually don’t ask again.

New PowerPoint Zero Day Vulnerability

Everyone needs to be aware of a new PowerPoint vulnerability that is actively being exploited and that does not currently have a patch available to address it. Microsoft is currently investigating the issue and may issue a patch sometime in the near future. Take caution when opening PowerPoint presentations that you are not explicitly expecting from a customer. I would also suggest staying away from any online presentations you may bump into or emails you happen to receive from a friend that include a PowerPoint attachment. Be safe ask the friend before opening the attachment.
