How to find what you need to get the job done!

Ask my wife sometime and you’ll probably find out that my short term memory has a lot to be desired, and is in fact practically non-existent. I could easily have four drinking glasses lying around the house at any given time and never even realize it. Her number one response when I ask where I put something is invariably, “Where did you have it last?” I typically respond to this with something akin to, “If I knew where that was, I wouldn’t be asking.”

Manage Your Mailbox Ghostbuster Style! (VOL013)

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Tackling your vastly over-filled Inbox can be as scary as ridding yourself of a ghost or poltergeist. You have probably noticed related behavior like: messages that suddenly disappear, attachments from strangers, e-mail that just sits in your Outbox, and spam that makes you feel as though if you inadvertently opened it, you would be covered in slime.

All Groupies Are Not Dead Heads (VOL010)

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

So to start off this edition of the podcast, I want to first give you a definition of the word Group.

A Group as a noun is defined as:

  • Any collection or assemblage of persons or things
  • A number of persons or things ranged or considered together as being related in some way
  • A Cluster or Aggregation

I have spent the past few years watching my 6 year old develop social and learning skills and I’ve realized that there is some fundamental force in nature that compels everything, not just humans, to group and organize.

Scraping the Ice Off Windows (VOL006)

I'll Take That to Go (VOL004)

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

You know, I found myself out at lunch the other day at one of those fast food restaurants. You know, one of those where you wait ten minutes for that “fast food”. While I was waiting, I thought back to a conversation I had with a friend at work, where we were discussing those products and fads from the 1980’s. You know, things like the Rubik’s Cube, Boom Boxes, Break Dancing, and Trapper Keepers. We started noticing that as we get older, these things never really go away, we just replaced them with upgrades. Make the sale or get the contract (VOL001)

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

This week’s focus area is Business Communication. Communication is important to everyone. Quality communication can make the sale or get the contract. In today’s business world, we communicate in a variety of ways: sending e-mail, exchanging documents in many electronic formats, calling people directly, using handheld computing devices, holding tele conferences, and running webinars. How well our message is expressed is based on a variety of factors. In this issue, we will look at an area that is only sporadically dealt with, and often requires quite a bit more care – spelling and the words we use.
